It’s incredible how many people are iron deficient. From children to adults, it’s a thing. And how strange that in developed countries, it is a common nutritional deficiency. We need iron for many things, and if we’re deficient, we can suffer. Below are a few things to look for as signs of iron deficiency.
- Breathlessness
- Lethargy, tiredness
- Heart palpitations
- Dizziness
- Headaches
- Dry skin and hair
- Restless legs
- Depression and anxiety
- Memory loss
- Low immune system
- Brittle nails
- Paleness of skin
- Cold hands and feet
- Pica – where you have a weird craving and eat things like tobacco, dirt, and chalk. Ewwwwww….
These are such simple symptoms that can go unnoticed, hence why so many people become deficient and feel subpar.
There are also many reasons people become iron deficient.
- Not eating iron-containing foods
- Gastrointestinal disease
- Vegetarianism
- Blood loss is like heavy periods or bowel disease.
- Too much tea and coffee
- People that train a lot
To name a few.
Men are less likely to get iron deficiency than women as iron is lost at menses time, especially if you have a more extended period of heavy flow.
We don’t need a great deal of iron to stay well. The RDA for iron is 8mg to 18mg for an adult, depending on your age and which data you read.
Great news – Our Superhuman Blend has 15 mg. Enough to keep you healthy and topped up. Plus, the most remarkable thing about iron is that it is the main component of meteorites! You can`t get cooler than that….except for stardust, of course! “We are made of star stuff”….thanks Carl Sagan.
